We were excited to launch our new outreach campaign during the IAVCEI Scientific Assembly in Geneva, between 29 June and 4 July. Over the past 6 months, the GVRA team have developed an interactive outreach exhibition called the 'Lava Dome'. The Lava Dome - a dome-shaped tent printed to look like lava - is home to a VR volcano experience that transports participants to 3D volcanic landscapes around the world! The Lava Dome was accompanied by an interactive game, 'Risk on the Rocks', seeking to challenge players to prepare for and manage volcanic eruptions.
As part of the exhibit, we also displayed 4 large canvases depicting art pieces that demonstrate the volcanic impacts on human society, including "Vancouver! Vancouver! This is it! 3" by Ryan Molenkamp, "Zaman Hujan Au (Time of the Ash Rain)" by Courtney Blazon, Détails sur le Fin du Monde (Details About the End of the World)" by Courtney Blazon, and "Erupciones" by Sandra Vasquez de la Horra. We thank the artists for the use of their work.
